GLAXO SC edged a point clear at the top of Division Two of the Sharples Furness & Disitrict Bowling League after beating King Alfred B 12-2.

North Scale look certain to be spending next year in Division Three following defeats of 8-6 away to Police A and 10-5 at home to Salthouse A.

Tom Gauntlett won 21-2 and Ian Thompson 21-9 in the losing effort against Salthouse whose best result on the night came in the form of Ken Howarth’s impressive 21-2 win.

Norman Milburn’s 21-9 win was not enough to prevent Askam A losing 9-5 at Hawcoat Park B.

This was mainly due to fine scores of 21-7 Dave Lee, 21-8 by Steve Sloan and George MaFarlane 21-9 for the hosts.
