RUGBY league legends who have graced Super League and the international scene will line up at Hindpool Tigers tomorrow.

The RL All Stars are heading to Brisbane Park for a special charity match against Hindpool Masters.

Paul Sculthorpe, Rob Burrow and Adrian Morley will be among the big names of the sport who will step onto the field for the All Stars, in a match raising money for the Wildcats Wheelchair Sports Club in Barrow.

The England and Great Britain internationals are part of a team which has reformed this summer, along with a number of other former top-flight men, and Hindpool's Graham Shaw, who has organised the event, is looking forward to seeing them in town.

“This will be their second game since they reformed,” said Shaw. “They've played at Kippax in Yorkshire and they had 2,000 people there and a lot of big names.

“It's a lot easier for them to get the big names in Yorkshire, because the players are predominantly Yorkshire and Lancashire-based, but we've managed to get three massive names for certain, and hopefully a couple of others.

“It should be a good day, and there has been a lot of interest.”

Junior teams from the host club, Barrow Island, Wath Brow Hornets, Dalton, Heysham Atoms and Marsh Hornets will also take part in a mini RL festival ahead of the big game.

Hindpool's masters will then take over as they battle the All Stars, with the team having gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, as former players come back to the game in a new way.

Everyone taking part on the Tigers side of the game had made a personal donation to play, helping add to the funds raised from the event.

Shaw added: “It will be our masters team, but with a few of the open-age players joining in as well. There are 25 lads and we ave all paid £100 to play to raise money for the Wildcats.

“My lad (Bobby) started there earlier this year, and I thought it was a great thing and wanted to help them out so they can keep running.”

Aside from the games, there will be stalls and a bouncy castle, while a sprint challenge for the various junior age groups will take place as well. The winners of each race will receive a signed Barrow Raiders ball.

Shaw thanked sponsors John Hutton, of Escape 2 Travel, and Des Johnston, of Des Johnston Recruitment, who has helped with the purchase of a special kit for the game.

The junior festival will start at noon, with the match between Hindpool and the RL All Stars kicking off at 2pm.
