CYCLING

THE Barrow and Central Wheelers’ midweek race programme has been decimated by the weather, but the latest event to go ahead was a rearranged Circuit of Cartmel, postponed from a fortnight earlier due to the weather.

This saw Glenn Rhodes finish fastest Wheeler in 36-58 for the hilly 13-mile circuit, followed by Barry Fittes on 40-14 and Scott Smith third in 40-22.

Fastest overall rider was Gary Spenceley (Lakes RC) in 35-01. Other riders were Paul O’Mahoney (Pro Bike Kit) 37-21, Uttley 37-41, Eamonn Quinn (Lakes RC) 38-06, John Lever (Lakes RC) 39-30, and Andy Holladay (Lakes RC) 39-51.

RON TYRRELL AND FRANK TAYLOR MEMORIAL MIXED PAIRS BOWLS COMPETITION

THIS event at the Red River Bowling Club has been re-scheduled to take place this Sunday.

The original date was Sunday, September 21.
