Social media for business event

The News & Star is organising a special half day conference at Tullie House in Carlisle to showcase the best ways for businesses to use social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

The event will take place from 1pm on March 25th and will be ideal for any business or organisation wondering how they should use social media to raise their profile.

If you've already taken your first steps in Facebook and Twitter come along and share your experience with those businesses that have already reaped the rewards of a successful social media strategy.

And we are pleased to announce that every business attending will be given a voucher entitling them to a free month long advertising promotion on our website which has over 200,000 visitors a month.

Sessions include:

  • an overivew of social media with Cumbrian digital consultant Andrew Armitage
  • practical tips on making the most from social media with Cumbrian Newspaper's digital strategy manager Nick Turner
  • the legal dos and don'ts surrounding social media with Aaron Lyons, of Burnetts Solicitors.

The News & Star is holding the event in association with Armstrong Watson.

After presentaions and a Q&A session with the panel in the Tullie House lecture theatre there will be a chance to network and discuss social media with our "digital champions" - local businesses who have already made a success of social media.

Confirmed participants who will be passing on their expertise include:

  • Claire Willis, owner of Snugbaby and award winning online businesswoman
  • Gemma Bell who runs Carlisle web development and design company Elevensixdesign
  • Rebecca Watson, Design & Marketing Co-ordinator at the Cumberland Pencil Company
  • Digital trainer Kate Norman who works with silver surfers
  • Joanna Coleman of Pictures U Carlisle which has built up its business with the help of an effective Facebook strategy

Laptops will be available so that you can get practical advice on using Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Tickets for this event cost £35 each. You can buy them online at http://tinyurl.com/6zradec or call 01228 612645 during office hours.
