Home store staff wait for job news

STAFF at a Barrow home textiles store are continuing to wait for news on their future.

Rosebys on Hindpool Road, which sells items such as duvets, bed linen and curtains, was put into administration before the weekend.

KPMG LLP Restructuring have been appointed as joint administrators.

Employees at Rosebys in Barrow make up part of the firm’s 2,000-strong workforce.

Barrow is one of 280 stores across the country, helping to generate sales of around £100m a year.

The Evening Mail understands the manager of Rosebys in Barrow is currently on holiday and on Monday afternoon no one else from the store was available for comment.

The group is continuing to trade under licence while a buyer is sought for the whole or parts of the business, to include the stock and stores.

Joint administrator Howard Smith said: “The business is continuing to trade as normal while we review the financial position and seek a going concern sale.

“No employees have been made redundant to date.

“In common with many retailers, the group has experienced difficult trading conditions, leading to continuing losses.

“Rosebys has recently sought to re-finance, but this did not prove possible in the current economic climate.

“We are looking for offers for the whole or any part of the business.”
