A £2M gym in Barrow is beginning to take shape.
More than 600 people have already signed up for a free VIP pass to the gym at Cornmill Park on Hindpool Road.
The 15,000sq ft centre will be JJB’S 52nd club in the UK and Ireland.
Associate director of JJB, Graeme Rogers, estimated that £2m has been spent on building the fitness centre since work began a year ago.
Mr Rogers said: “An independent market research company recently said that we’re the greatest fitness industry success story of the last decade and we’re really excited to be opening this new club in Barrow.”
Members will have access to a 20-metre swimming pool and 20ft movie screen, full fitness gymnasium, cafe, an oriental Ki mind and body studio and will also be able to take part in yoga, pilates and aerobics classes.
Mr Rogers believes the club will be a welcome addition to the Barrow fitness scene when it opens to the public.
He said: “People can sign up for a free VIP pass on our website at www.jjbfitness.co.uk which will allow them to get a sneak preview of the facilities before it opens to the general public.”
Members will pay £36 for a peak membership, £26 for off-peak, allowing them use of the gym between 8.30am and 4.30pm on weekdays and between 8am and 8pm at weekends, and over 60s pay £19.95 for a full membership.
Jobs up for grabs include a fitness instructor and sales assistants.
