School’s art wins special award

A JUNIOR school is celebrating being given an award for its commitment to the arts.

South Walney Infant and Nursery School has been given an Artsmark award, which is given to schools that have a high provision for the arts.

Headteacher Nancy McKinnell said the school runs a number of classes, such as animation where Russel Peet of Table Top Animations worked with pupils.

She said: “It has been really nice for the children to see they can do something like animation.’’
