The Warrington Wolves threesome have impressed since joining up with Darren Holt’s side at Craven Park earlier this summer.

Shaw has become the fastest player in Barrow RL history to reach a century of points for the club – tallying 106 in just nine games – while both Brennan and Duffy have made a big impact in the pack in their five-match stint since joining in June.

Holt wants all three to return for next season in the Championship, having helped the club gain promotion, but knows it will not be his decision.

“I would certainly be interested in having them for another season, but – and I said this when we took them on – they are not our players,” said Holt, whose kicking duties have been taken over by former Barrow Island youngster Shaw to impressive effect.

“I feel like they are our players. They’ve gelled in and they are a part of our squad now, so I do feel they are our players, but on the paperwork side of things, they are Warrington players.

“They have been at Warrington, they have been brought up through the systems there and integrated into that system.

“They are something we are going to be looking at. I think there is no doubt about the impact the three boys have had and the main thing for me – and it is probably credit to the other players there and the set-up we have developed down at Barrow – is that they are thoroughly enjoying their time up here. If it is possible, all three of those boys we would certainly love to continue. Saying that, there are a lot of things to consider and a lot of things to discuss. It is important to remember that they aren’t our players.”

Holt brought in Shaw in May when a series of injuries among his centres left him looking at other options.

He was Barrow’s first dual-registration signing of the year, following mainly-failed forays in the past two seasons after the initial success of current Super League star Jermaine McGillvary.

Shaw’s success meant fellow Wolves youth stars Brennan and Duffy followed to plug a gap in the pack a month later and all three and have been constant presences.

Holt has been delighted with how they have fit in, and added: “It’s not that I am not a fan of dual-reg, it’s about getting the right people who fit into your club and the three lads who have come up really have just slotted right in.

“They are committed to Barrow – to the club, to the supporters, to their fellow players – and they have worked out very, very well for us this year. Certainly, we will at least be asking the question, but again it is not our decision to make.”

l The Raiders Bar will be open tomorrow to show a double-header of televised Championship One matches. First up will be a replay of Barrow’s promotion-sealing victory over Whitehaven last week, followed by the live showing of the match between Doncaster and Workington. The bar will open at 5.15pm, with the Doncaster v Workington match kicking off at 7.30pm.
