Three go in Craven Park mini-clearout

BARROW Raiders have already started to ring the changes ahead of next season in National League One, writes PAUL TURNER.
While chief executive Des Johnston said last week the club were looking at around 20 potential new signings, he also said some players would be cut loose.
And he and coach Dave Clark have decided to let the trio go.
Clark said: “Dave is not in our plans now for next season.
“He has performed really well for the club and has been one of our outstanding players this season.
“Adam has been in and out with injuries all year. He had a hamstring problem and a keen injury and he’s not really played a lot of games for us.
“He can definitely play, but injury-wise it’s a risk and we can’t take that into next year.”
Australian Armitstead has spent two seasons at Craven Park and won a raft of player-of-the-year awards last term. Former Super League man Hughes was signed from Oldham in the close-season, but has seen his campaign hampered by injury, the latest of which – a cruciate knee ligament problem – ruling him out of the game for six months.
Raftery, meanwhile, spent much of the early part of the season out of favour and was loaned out to Swinton for a month before returning to play his part in the final months of the campaign.
On Raftery, Clark added: “Paul has been a really good servant to the club.
“I think he’ll find another club quite easily.”
- The Raiders’ end-of-season presentation night takes place at Bar Five on Friday, starting at 7.30pm.
The event is all-ticket and tickets can be obtained from the Rugby Shop, Scott Street, or by calling Karen on 01229 820273.
I've been to every home game this season, and i am very pleased by the way Dave Armitstead has shown his affection in EVERY game. I think the club has made a really big mistake by releasing him, and will regret it as they will relise what they are missing out on next season.
