THE RAIDING PARTY: Consistency key for Barrow Raiders

WELL, once again last Sunday we snatched annihilation from the jaws of victory. Leading at half-time against league leaders Halifax, the team capitulated completely in the final 40 minutes to lose the match 56-30.

THE RAIDING PARTY: Halfway to safety for Barrow Raiders

THIS Sunday’s visit to Halifax will mark the halfway point in our 2013 Championship campaign and, despite the confident predictions of the doom and gloom merchants, we find ourselves fourth from bottom and, for the moment at least, clear of the dreaded bottom two relegation spots.

PHIL YOUR BOOTS: Barrow Raiders cup dream over for another year

OH well, I suppose we’ll have to watch the Challenge Cup final at home again after Halifax cut short our Wembley dream.

THE RAIDING PARTY: Clive one of the Best Barrow RL ever had

ONE of the great names from Barrow RFC’s past, Clive Best, sadly died last week at his home in South Wales.

PHIL YOUR BOOTS: 10-minute spell spelled curtains for Barrow Raiders

AT 12 noon last Sunday it was looking increasingly like the game at Sheffield wasn’t going to get played as we were stuck in a huge traffic jam following a car crash on the M61.

PHIL YOUR BOOTS: Leigh Miners a credit to RL after Barrow Raiders showing

AS the saying goes ‘a win’s a win’, and I’ll take a scruffy win over a pretty defeat every day of the week. However, that’s not to say we were impressed with the performance against Leigh Miners – far from it.

PHIL YOUR BOOTS: Barrow Raiders' Easter weekend not good for my health!

WEEKENDS like the one we have just had are certainly not good for anyone’s health.

THE RAIDING PARTY: No-one wants out of Barrow Raiders

SUNDAY’S heavy defeat at Sheffield saw us drop back into the relegation zone and the next league fixture (Swinton Lions at Craven Park on Sunday, April 28) has yet another “must-win” feel about it.

THERE is no question that Monday’s Challenge Cup draw was a massive disappointment for us all.

THE RAIDING PARTY: What a week for Barrow Raiders

WELL, what a weekend that was. The awful sinking feeling which overcame us all as we lost in the dying seconds at Keighley on Good Friday was completely reversed on Easter Monday when we inflicted the same demoralising blow upon York City Knights at Craven Park.

THE RAIDING PARTY: An opportunity missed for Barrow Raiders

I THINK everybody was in agreement that last Sunday we threw away a golden opportunity to drag ourselves out of the relegation zone for the first time in 2013.

THE RAIDING PARTY: Great to witness historic Barrow Raiders comeback

LAST week I wrote there had been signs during the early part of the season that the current Barrow squad could compete at Championship level, and on Sunday the boys completely vindicated my thoughts. (2 comments)

AS this is a family newspaper, I can’t really express how I felt after the game last week – but I certainly took it personally, as did Holty and Deano.
