Millions tuned in to the first programme of this year's The Apprentice last night, where they saw Cumbrians Rebecca Jeffrey and Oliver Nohl-Oser stepping outside their comfort zones to sell collectables at a market.

It ended badly for Rebecca, from Asby near Lamplugh, who found herself facing Lord Sugar in the boardroom while Oliver, from Milburn near Penrith, lived to fight another day and, after enjoying his reward of Lindy Hop dance lessons, headed back to his temporary home.

Where is the house? It’s on Daleham Gardens in Hampstead. The north London neighbourhood is a highly sought-after hilltop retreat and famed for its heath, which boasts panoramic views of London.

What's it like? The Apprentice has a rich tradition of picking the fanciest homes in London for the budding contestants. And 2016 is no exception.

The six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion is built over four floors which totals a whopping 10,000sq ft. That’s 10 times more than the typical English home.

And while it may look traditional on the outside, the property’s interior is anything but. It has been fully refurbished, fusing elegant period features with brand spanking new architectural curiosities.

On the ground floor, there's a grand entrance hall, reception room and large wood-panelled dining room. But venture down to the basement, and sunlight pours through the contemporary glass wall and ceiling.

There's also a cinema, gym, spa and sauna that this year's crop of hopefuls can kick back in when they're not pounding the streets on tasks, or enduring a grilling in Lord Sugar's boardroom. Plus, there's a spacious roof terrace overlooking the garden and double garage.

How much does it cost to rent? As always, the price tag matches the glitz. The mansion is currently listed for rent for a staggering £38,783 per MONTH.

What about to buy? It seems the owner is looking to sell the property too, as it's also listed on the sales market for an eye-watering £12m - reduced by 11.5 per cent in July.

What else is interesting about the area? Hampstead is synonymous with the rich and famous. The likes of Ricky Gervais, Harry Styles, George Michael, Elizabeth Taylor, Benedict Cumberbatch and Boy George have all been drawn to the area’s mansions.

It's also a hot spot for some impressive stately homes. They include Kenwood House, a popular backdrop for a number of movies, such as Notting Hill.

And of course, it boasts Hampstead Heath, the capital’s largest ancient parkland at more than 800 acres.

Here's hoping Rebecca and Oliver survive The Apprentice process long enough to enjoy it.
