ISLAND life has always suited Paul Henderson but he has decided to sell up his family home on Walney.

The size of the rooms and the superb location were just two things which won Paul over when he was looking for a house that would cater for both his and his children’s needs.

He wanted plenty of space for them in a safe area.

The age of the house was also an attractive selling point with plenty of character and built to last in the Victorian era.

Situated at Vickertowns, Walney, 16 Powerful Street, is in a highly sought after residential location and is a fine detached family home.

The property has been tastefully maintained and has a forecourt with imprinted concrete pathway, vestibule, entrance hall, lounge, living room and a kitchen/diner.

To the first floor are three good sized bedrooms and a modern family bathroom.

The house also has a fully boarded loft. To the back of the house is a very pleasant block paved seating area.

Talking about the house, Paul said: “People can’t tell how big it is from the outside but once in the door it just keeps going way back.

“All three bedrooms are really good sizes and fit double beds, it has loads of character and is such a solidly built house.

“I didn’t have to do anything but decorate and a lot of the things in the house came from the shop across the road, Vickerstown Upholstery.

“All the rooms are such a good size and although the kids have tended to use the dining room as their room we have had lots of gatherings in it and plenty of meals have been eaten there. It is a modern kitchen diner.

“The lounge is a really good size and has plenty of character pieces as well.

“Both the lounge and the living room have coal effect living flame gas fires.

“But the original fireplace is behind the gas fire in the lounge if anyone wanted to revert back. “The loft has been insulated and is boarded out so also has potential.”

The location of the house has also been a big hit with Paul’s children. The sheltered backyard is a great suntrap and they have spent a lot of time sitting out. The sun starts at the front of the house and moves around making the yard with its block paved seating area a popular place to relax.

Paul added that it is such a nice safe area with plenty of families so the children can all play out with each other.

He said: “It is very quiet here but it is a very friendly neighbourhood.

“People look out for each other.

“When the children are outside people keep an eye out for them.

“The house is in a good central location with the island shops handy.”

Walney life has not lost its appeal for Paul and he has loved the house but it is just too big for him on his own and he is ready to move.

The house, 16 Powerful Street, Walney, is on the market with Ross Estate Agencies for offers in the region of £189,950.
