MAKING the move from the city to a much quieter location on the Furness Peninsula not only suited Dennis and Trisha Mulroy but their three daughters as well.

When asked if they would be happy to move from Manchester to Furness it was an unanimous yes from Victoria, Nichola and Lucy, making it a done deal.

The house, 1 Hall Garth, Rampside, is a deceptively spacious terraced mews which has been well maintained and is very desirable. Inside is an entrance hall, lounge diner, kitchen, three good sized bedrooms and a bathroom.

Outside there is a garden front and to the back a beautiful and well maintained enclosed garden with a decked seating area, paved patio and built in barbeque.

There is also a garage which can be accessed internally from the kitchen.

Describing life in their home, Dennis said: “We moved here in 1989 and love it. “It is so quiet on Rampside, the beach is just across the road and when the weather is sunny you can sit in the back garden and could be anywhere in the world.

“People are deceived about the size of the house from the front outside, they don’t realise how big it is.

“The house goes back over the garage and the rooms are all good sizes.

“Even the third bedroom is a proper size. “

We have moved into the second bedroom now and use the master for the grandchildren.

“It has bunk beds and a television so when they visit or stay they can go up there if the want to.

“There is even space on the landing with a sofa so there is always a place for anyone wanting time out.

“I spend most of my time in the garden which I love. It is south west facing and is a real sun trap all day.

“We have also spent a lot of time in the conservatory which is warm even in the winter.”

The house was only about 18 months old when the Mulroy’s bought it and so they decorated throughout.

They also changed things in the kitchen.

Dennis explained: “There was a double door leading from the dining area but we changed it to a single to add more cupboard space.

“Now the cupboards go right round. “

We put in the big island and people tend to go in one side and get their sandwiches and out the other side to get drinks.

“There is a door from the kitchen leading out into the garage which is somewhere the grandchildren play in quite a lot.

“We took out the cloakroom at the end of the hallway to open things up more.”

The family bathroom is a good size and has a roll top bath with a shower hose and a wall divide between it and the toilet.

Dennis said: “The whole house is really light and airy and we have loved living here.

“After retiring in September last year I have re-decorated all the bedrooms.”

“Both our children and grandchildren love the beach and are going to miss it not being across the road.

The Mulroys love their house and its quiet area with good neighbours, but now their three daughters have their own houses around the Dalton area leaving Dennis and Trisha in the house on their own.

The couple want to downsize, invest in a camper van and travel more both at home and abroad. The house, 1 Hall Garth, Barrow, is on the market with Ross Estate Agencies for offers in the region of £239,950.
