What was a two-bedroom bungalow was transformed into a spacious four-bedroomed home which has catered to the needs of an active family for 15 years come November.

When Lynn and Julie Furzeland-Ridgway saw the bungalow while visiting relatives they were immediately taken by the gardens and the property's location. They were already familiar with Leece and decided it was for them.

The house, Browedge, is detached and extended. Inside there is a fabulous open-plan kitchen, which is perfect for entertaining, an entrance porch, hallway, bay-windowed lounge, open kitchen into a large dining area/reception room, shower room, mezzanine toy room, back porch/utility, four bedrooms (master with four-piece en-suite and walk in wardrobe), a study area and WC.

Outside not only does the property have pristine surrounding gardens, but there is also an extensive driveway approach and two double garages.

Lynn and Julie could clearly see the potential in their new home because they were not even looking for a property when they first saw it while walking the dog. But since making it their home with their two children Lewis and Katie, they have grown it to cater for their family's changing needs.

Lynn explained: "The bungalow had two double garages with flat roofs so we built on top of them and the architect did a really great design job for us.

"We linked the new extension with the rest of the house and ended up with two extra bedrooms, a cloakroom and an office.

"We decorated right through the home and opened up the kitchen to a kitchen dinning room and pitched up to create a vast space. We tend to use this room a lot for family gatherings.

"We both loved the big front garden and when the children were smaller we used to close the drive gates and then they could play out there safely. They learnt to ride their bikes on the drive and generally had a ball.

"Behind the house, the back garden is very private and no-one overlooks it because there is only a field beyond us. When the children were small we had a tree hut for them, it is such a lovely garden and so good for the adults to sit in.

"All four bedrooms are doubles and even the room which acted as a nursery years ago easily fits a double bed. There is also a toy room which is now the children's 'office'.

The study has a double-glazed French door which opens out on to the garden, which Lynn says makes it such a nice space in the summer.

The master bedroom also has its own walk-in wardrobe, en-suite and double-glazed French doors lead to the garden.

This is a much-loved family home, but now the family with its growing number of animals is on the hunt for a place with land attached.

Lynn said their daughter is very much into showing her sheep and puts a lot of time and effort into it and, with the growing number of animals they collect, land is essential.

Lewis loves his outside space to play football, while the whole family is into kayaking and like to go to Coniston Water which is only about 25 minutes away from their house.

As much as it is a hard wrench they are ready to move on to their next home.
