House hunters in Furness can now use state-of-the-art technology in their search for a home to buy or let.

Local estate agent Corrie & Co this week unveiled an interactive touchscreen, believed to be the first of its kind in Cumbria, at its Ulverston office.

Director Melanie Corrie said: "It's dynamic. It's purely an estate agent-driven product and the installers told us they haven't fitted one anywhere else in the county.

"It’s a modern marketing tool for anyone looking to sell their house or rent. It's never turned off and makes us accessible 24 hours a day, even on a Sunday when the branch is shut.

"It’s complimentary to what we offer in branch and it’s immediate. Someone could email us from outside the office and ask for details on a property, the brochure and floorplan.

"If we're shut they know that if they request a viewing, somebody will get that first thing and respond accordingly."

Ulverston was chosen as the launch town for the touchscreen because of its footfall. Corrie & Co's currently showcase their properties on television screens which always attract lots of viewers.

The system will be rolled out to the Barrow and Millom branches in the new year

Mrs Corrie added: "When we opened we were probably the first to have television screens displaying our properties in the window so this is the next phase.

"This kind of advertising has come on in leaps and bounds and now it’s not just a picture showing in rotation, it’s an interactive tool that can be a sales device for people sourcing a property.

"The reaction has been great. We’ve had lots of people looking at it, a little cautiously at first because it’s quite a big display, but then trying it out."

The agent's stock will be regularly updated on the new system.
