WALKING in the door of their home for the first time 16 years ago, it was love at first sight for Stephen and Caroline Bushell.

This came as a bit of a relief for the couple because it had been a long search.

With its distinctive stylish front and superb location, they had been keen to take a closer look at the property, but once inside they knew it was the house for them.

The extended accommodation has a garden to the front, with a drive access to the garage, a vestibule, entrance hall, lounge, living room, dining room and kitchen-diner with integral access to the garage. To the first floor are three bedrooms and a bathroom with a separate WC. The second bedroom has superb views. To the back is a very pleasant and private lawned garden with paved patio and garden shed.

This ideal family home has been very well maintained throughout.

The beautiful vestibule and hallway draws you in straight away, with the leaded stained glass feature window, original tile floor and original leaded stained glass door and window to the entrance hall.

Stephen said: “We loved how the house looked on the outside because it is very individual, detached and has a nice aspect, but inside the whole house is light with high ceilings."

"The owners had already put in beautiful fireplaces in the lounge and the living room. The one in the bay-windowed lounge has tile insets while in the living room the fireplace has a marble hearth and marble surround. They are both different but really eye-catching.

“Nothing cosmetic needed to be done in the house, but I updated some of the safety aspects. You access the garage inside the house via a door in the kitchen dining room so I had a new fire door installed there. I upgraded the wiring, including having the lighting circuit replaced, sockets fitted and put in a new consumer unit and circuit breakers.

"We have replaced two of the flat roofs and these are still under guarantee as well as replacing some of the Upvc windows.

“We also had new carpets laid and have gradually over time redecorated all the rooms."

The house had been extended twice before Stephen and Caroline took ownership to create a large lounge and a kitchen dining area with its own breakfast bar.

Stephen said: “All the rooms are generous sizes, but we love the dining room because you can sit looking out to the garden through the patio doors at meal times and even when it is winter or cold you have a nice green view.

“In the summer you can eat breakfast out on the patio because the garden gets the sun all day long.

“Thanks to the hedge right round the back garden and the conifers, it is very private and sheltered. The garden is low maintenance with both lawn and paving areas.

"Upstairs the three bedrooms are all good sizes and because of the elevated position you get a great view over the town."

Stephen finished: “We love this area because it is so quiet and we are actually hoping to stay within the area we love it that much, but we want to downsize."
