ITS QUIET and safe setting for her young daughter attracted Nicola Beattie to her house almost five years ago. As she told SUSAN GOODSON, it has proved to be a wonderful home which she will be sad to say goodbye to, despite looking forward to exciting new changes in their lives

LIGHT and airy is how Nicola Beattie describes the house she and daughter Macie have really made their own.

She has always used skilled professionals to ensure all the work on the house has been carried out to the highest standard.

Their home - 11 Consett Street, Barrow - is located in a popular residential location and is a superb, deceptive end-of-terrace home that has been beautifully modernised throughout.

It is made up of a nice lounge with access to the stairs and through to the fitted kitchen diner. The first floor has two double bedrooms and a separate three-piece bathroom suite. It has fully UPVC double glazed and with gas central heating and would make an ideal home for a first time buyer.

Talking about her house, Nicola said: "It is such a quiet street with no through traffic which means it is safe for my daughter to play out. It is also close to good schools, the Co-op and the Tesco Express at Roose.

"I love that all the rooms in the house are so light and I absolutely love my big kitchen with its dining table.

"I can be cooking while Macie, now seven, is doing her homework.

"I have had new flooring laid in the kitchen, new carpets and skirting boards and had the house re-plastered and painted throughout."

The stunning open kitchen has been fitted with a good range of flat fronted, pine effect base and wall units with stainless steel handles, cornice and black laminate work surface. There is a stainless steel sink with mixer tap and inset drainer.

Nicola, who has also had a new bathroom installed, has created a modern but homely feel to the house and at the same time given it character.

She added: "I do like my bedroom and both bedrooms are double, but I have always enjoyed sitting in my lounge because it is so cosy."

The lounge has a mounted open pebble gas fire, cornice and an open doorway which leads to the kitchen and staircase.

Its big front window looks out on to the street and allows in plenty of natural light.

The family bathroom has its own access which Nicola much prefers rather than many houses which are designed so that people have to go through a bedroom to get to it.

The bathroom has a low level bath with mixer tap, shower attachment and matching side panels, low level flush WC and a Victorian-style wash basin with pedestal.

At the back of the house is a good-sized yard which is a real suntrap, Nicola said, and they have loved sitting out in it.

The house is convenient for the town centre, the neighbours are wonderful and their are families on her street.

Nicola is not the only one who will be sad to say goodbye to her home.

Maci is also sad to see it go, but with a second baby on the way Nicola and her boyfriend are looking forward to buying their own home together.
