PALOMA Faith is back. Her new single, Cry Baby, is riding high in the charts and her fourth album is due for release in November. Paloma has been out of the spotlight for a while.

“It feels like I’m coming back to work after maternity leave,” she told me on my radio show on The Bay.

“To be honest, I’m coming back to work for a rest. It’s been the hardest time of my life.”

Her comeback track is an absolute belter. Its upbeat and catchy with a touch of her trademark quirkiness. During her absence, Paloma seems to have discovered the secret to world peace. If only she worked for the United Nations, we may all finally live in harmony!

She said: “On a big scale the male leaders of the world need to be less about ego and more about empathy. On a small scale, it would just be helpful and kind if men were allowed to show their emotions.”

Paloma’s crusade to connect fellas with their emotions coincides with her crying all the time since becoming a mum.

She said: “Apparently, it takes two years for your hormones to restabilise so I’m technically very unstable!”

Paloma's long awaited new album, The Architect, is nearly ready and she can’t wait for fans to hear it.

She said: “It’s much more of a social commentary than previous albums which have been more about personal experience. This one is me looking out at the world and it feels like a light is being shone onto it now that I’ve brought someone into the world. There is definitely something for everyone on it, including some up-tempo euphoria and plenty of Paloma classic theatrical ballads. I’ve also done an amazing pinch-yourself collaboration which I’m not going to reveal just yet, it’s a surprise.”

Paloma’s career has been on a continual upward trajectory. Each of her three albums so far has outsold the previous record. Her last one, A Perfect Contradiction, was huge and spawned her biggest hit song to date, Only Love Can Hurt Like This. So, will album number four continue the upward trend? Does she feel the pressure?

“Yeah, it’s going to crash and burn now! I care more than ever now about the album doing well. Especially after having a child, I feel totally responsible now. As much as I love him, I can’t really rely on my partner financially. It’s all very much on my shoulders, if I’m honest, so I feel very much under pressure.”

I’m sure if her new single, Cry Baby, is representative of the album, then she will have nothing to worry about.

The Architect is available from November and Cry Baby is out now. You can listen to her my chat with her on The Bay’s website.
