PEREFECTION. Comedy gold. The funniest “viral” video of the year, bar none. I am, of course, referring to the glorious 47-second clip from BBC World News when the young offspring of one of the world’s leading authorities on Korean politics hijacked their father’s erudite interview.

First into the room, swaggering like all self-respecting tots should do, came the bright yellow jumper-clad four-year-old daughter of Professor Robert Kelly, closely followed by her younger brother, arms akimbo in his walker and crashing into the furniture.

Next, enter stage right, Professor Kelly’s wife, whose attempts to surreptitiously remove the two children from the Prof’s spare bedroom-cum-study were the stuff of comedy writers’ dreams.

Small wonder that the clip had been viewed 30 million times on Facebook within hours - and probably hundreds of millions of times around the world since then.

I hope Professor Kelly has taken it in good part. He may well be miffed with his kiddies for upstaging him - and certainly no one will remember that interview for his analysis of South Korean democracy. But, how lucky is the good professor: if he achieves nothing more on this earth, he can go to his grave knowing that he brought 47 seconds of pure joy to hundreds of millions of people. Professor Kelly, we salute you.
