Your Fitness Instructor Interview – perfect tips
Last updated at 13:19, Tuesday, 05 March 2013
Jobs are becoming harder and harder to come by and you’ll all know by now that nailing an interview is crucial for success. Every industry has been affected by the current job situation, so becoming the perfect candidate has never been so important. Fitness instructor jobs are one avenue of employment that has still remained popular despite the recession, meaning competition is fierce. Here are some top tips to see you (hopefully) nail your interview and sail straight into a job...
Tip 1
Be prepared!
Make sure you research the organisation or firm for which you are being interviewed, and find out as much as you can about the position you are being interviewed for. Be prepared to talk about the organisation and give reasons as to why you would like to work especially for this company in particular.
Tip 2
Look the part...
This goes without saying people. Look smart and well-kept. A company is far more likely to hire somebody who is well-dressed over a candidate who looks scruffy.
Tip3
Know you!
Make sure you know your own skills and abilities so you can talk clearly about yourself, and don’t be afraid to speak up about what you can do best. This will increase your confidence and mean you can explain your experience and relate it to how it will help you in the job you are applying for. Remember - you are selling yourself and want your interviewer to invest in your unbeatable skills.
Tip 4
Questions...
The interview is not only for your potential employer it’s for you as well... This is your opportunity to find out anything else you may need to know about the position and make sure it is definitely for you. Asking questions also shows to your potential employer that you are interested in and engaged with their company, which can’t look bad..!
Tip 5
Material
Double check your interview instructions – what are they asking you to bring? Always take an extra copy of your CV even if they don’t ask for it, it’ll give you a chance to revise right up until the moment you get called in.
Tip 6
Lateness
Never be late to an interview. End of. Obviously, there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that can’t be helped, but always let the interviewer know of traffic accidents/road closures etc as soon as you know about them.
Tip 7
Social media
With social media expanding employers are now looking up potential employees on Facebook so that they can get a good idea of what type of person you are, so be careful with what you post on Facebook and other social media sites.
Tip 8
Don't be discouraged if you do not get the job.
Always keep in mind that a lot of people will be applying for the job and only one person can be successful. Get in contact with the interviewer and ask them if there was any particular reason why you didn’t get the job and ask what you could improve.
You can then learn from the experience and better yourself for next time – good luck!
