Women’s artwork on show at new Barrow exhibition

ARTISTIC women launched an exhibition following on from their success at an event.
Cumbria Multicultural Women’s Network (CMWN) hosted an exhibition at The Forum in Barrow to showcase some of its screenprints of migratory birds, drawings and sculptures which had featured at an event in Manchester.
The ‘In Translation’ project, which had been organised in conjunction with the Manchester Arts Gallery, offered the opportunity to 12 members of the CMWN to take part in workshops with professional artists.
Their drawings were made into colourful screenprints and became part of the exhibition which went on display at the gallery for 12 months.
To coincide with International Women’s Day last Friday, CMWN showcased some of their work at The Forum.
In Translation project co-ordinator, Wendy Rowe, said: “Unusually, the project has allowed us an opportunity to work in the background of the production of a national art exhibition.”
