HAVING stormed into her home, a man pushed his former partner to the ground and pinned her friend to the floor using a dining room chair.

The following month David Blagburn damaged his ex’s car after flying into another angry rage.

The 42-year-old, of Vicarage Mount, Walney, appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, and pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and one of criminal damage.

The assaults happened on September 9 when Brian Williams was visiting Blagburn’s ex, Angela Henderson, at her Barrow home.

Ms Judith Knott, prosecuting, told the court Blagburn turned up at around 1.30pm and came into the dining room “apparently angry”.

When Ms Henderson stood up, he pushed her out of the way, knocking over a chair she was sitting on and causing her to stumble back, falling onto a radiator.

He then shouted at Mr Williams, accusing him of taking money from Ms Henderson’s purse, before running over and pushing him.

When his victim fell to the floor, Blagburn used a dining room chair to stop him moving.

He had to be dragged off by his former partner, pushed out of the room and locked out of the house.

The second incident, on October 21, happened when Blagburn went round to Ms Henderson’s house and found a friend of his visiting her.

She would not let him in, but then heard a loud bang, which turned out to be her ex-partner hitting her car.

In police interview, Blagburn said Ms Henderson was his fiancee, and he had gone to the house and found Mr Williams there, drunk.

He said his partner had told him on a previous occasion that Mr Williams was stealing money.

Ms Knott said: “He admitted he’d pushed Ms Henderon, but hadn’t realised she’d hit the radiator.

“He admitted pinning Mr Williams down with the chair.”

Of the second incident, Ms Knott said, Blagburn claimed he had become angry because he thought Ms Henderson, who he still loved, was with his friend.

Blagburn, who represented himself in court, claimed the car he damaged was mainly paid for, and therefore owned, by him.

He also disputed the damage value of £773.

He was given a 12-month community order, including 120 hours of unpaid work.

Blagburn was also ordered to pay £150 compensation to Ms Henderson, £125 to Mr Williams and £85 costs.
