DOG owners in Furness are being warned about the potentially deadly palm oil that has washed up at Walney beach.
palm oil warning
The congealed oil has been spotted on the Walney shoreline today and dog owners are being urged to be on high alert.
Dogs have become critically ill, or sadly died, after licking or trying to eat lumps of the toxic palm oil.
The administrators of the Barrow-in-Furness Lost and Found Pets Facebook group have asked The Mail to highlight the issue to alert more dog owners to take care of their pets on the sands.
Administrator Karan Locke said: "Palm oil can be lethal and it is probably on other beaches too nearby."
