YOUNG performers transported their impressed audiences "somewhere over the rainbow" with their Christmas school production.

The pupils of Walney School presented The Wizard of Oz panto to entertain crowds over two nights in the run-up to the Christmas holidays.

The youngsters followed the Yellow Brick Road to Oz in search of the mystical wizard, with many extraordinary adventures along the way.

Among the young cast members were Veronica Wetherow starring as Dorothy and Leah-Marie Bell starring as the scarecrow, in the classic story which made iconic by the 1939 film.

The show included performers from across the year groups at the Sandy Gap Lane secondary school.
