TWO schools have benefited from the sales of a calendar.

Vickerstown Primary School and North Walney Primary School each received £125 as proceeds from the sale of the annual Walney Calendar.

The popular calendars produced in conjunction with Philip Hatfield Photography, of Douglas Street Walney, and Mill Lane Post Office on the island.

Marianne Livesey, from the post office, visited both schools to present them with cheques.

The Walney calendar was reintroduced in recent years and they are sent around the world to ex-pat Walneyites.

Mr Hatfield captured some remarkable images from different parts of the island for the 2017 calendar, including moonrise above the lighthouse at south Walney and a sunset at Earnse Bay.

Another of this year's photographs shows Walney roof tops, Biggar Bank and Walney Wind Farm which was taken by Mr Hatfield from the Barrow Town Hall clock tower with a 400mm telephoto lens on the photographer's 60th birthday.
