A REVELLER assaulted a man who by coincidence shares the same name as his by biting his face after a night-out.

Aaron Booth, 22, of Dominion Street, Walney, attacked Aaron Booth in the early hours of December 12 in Barrow town centre.

Booth pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating at Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The court was told Booth, who was with a group of friends, followed the victim down an alleyway towards the Hot Potato takeaway in Cavendish and shouted "get back here".

Mrs Pam Ward, prosecuting, said: "As Mr Booth sped up, the group pursuing him followed. He got scared and thought he was going to get beaten up.

"(Booth) grabbed the victim by the head as if to headbutt him.

"He bit the left side of the chin. He managed to prise him off his face."

A victim statement statement read aloud to the court said: "I am apprehensive about walking home on my own."

Magistrates ordered Booth to pay £100 compensation, £85 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge, and carry out 100 hours unpaid work.

Mr Trystan Roberts, in mitigation, said his client could not recall much of what happened due to drinking too much alcohol.
