A 76-YEAR-OLD RAF veteran posed as a teenage girl to chat to youngsters about sex while he downloaded sick child porn images.

Pervert David Attwood used more than 50 different internet accounts to pursue his interests in young girls.

A judge slapped him with a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years to "provide protection for children".

The Walney pensioner was found to have a number of indecent images of children on his computer when police raided his home in Irwell Road on February 24, 2014.

But in addition to the images, Attwood's search history revealed he had been using sick search terms to look for images and talk to other paedophiles.

His computer records revealed he had five category A images, four at category B, three at category C and a category B movie.

On some occasions, the RAF veteran had posed as a teenage girl himself from behind the screen.

Attwood, a keen photographer and railway enthusiast, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images and a charge of possessing indecent images.

Preston Crown Court heard yesterday that the pensioner has a previous conviction for sexually assaulting a man in Ulverston in 1993.

Since the offence, he has been socially isolated and has been marginalised in his family.

His wife has now started divorce proceedings, the hearing was told.

Judge Andrew Woolman, sentencing, said: "A small amount of material was found on your equipment but it is clear from other evidence that you were regularly engaging in chat of a sexualised nature about the possibility of having sexual relations with girls who were under age."

"You had 50 different internet accounts and your browsing history also shows exactly what you were interested in.

“It is clear this wasn’t just curiosity but a regular activity.

“You have been a hardworking man all your life and you now find yourself riddled with medical problems and very isolated."

Judge Woolman handed Attwood an eight-month sentence suspended for two years and made a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

He said: "That is meant to control your use of the internet and provide protection for children."

The judge also made Attwood the subject of notification requirements for 10 years.
