A “NEIGHBOUR from hell” locked up for intimidating his GP has been given a criminal behaviour order on top of his jail term.

Stephen Greenhalgh, of Thames Road, Walney, appeared on Thursday before the bench at Furness Magistrates’ Court via video link from HMP Preston.

Greenhalgh, 55, is serving 12 weeks behind bars after admitting to common assault earlier this month.

In addition to a jail term, the CPS at the time recommended the imposition of a criminal behaviour order to tackle his antisocial behaviour.

Greehalgh previously threatened a doctor at Burnett Edgar Medical Centre, Walney, for not giving him sleeping medication.

He said he would smash up Dr Muhammad Amin’s Porsche Carrera, though he denied making this threat.

He had also assaulted a neighbour, and spat in a woman’s hair in a dispute over the ownership of a dog, and played loud music late into the night.

Mr Lee Dacre, prosecuting, said: “We suggest two prohibitions on this order. Hopefully this will prevent further offending by the defendant.”

Mr Dacre recommended to the court that the CBO last for two years.

Miss Karen Templeton in defence said: “My main concern is about the length of the order. Until this year Mr Greenhalgh has been out of trouble for a long time. He has not been in court since 1993. He has had a lot of issues this year that led to him coming before the court. Before this there had been a long period of time he had been a law-abiding citizen.”

Magistrates decided to impose the order, with two prohibitions.

Greenhalgh is prohibited from entering or contacting by any means the Burnett Medical Centre unless via a solicitor.
He is also prohibited from using abusive, insulting, threatening or intimidating language or behaviour within the sight or hearing of a person not of the same household.

The order will last for two years.
