A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Walney who pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, including one against a police constable, has been given 400 hours of community service.

Ryan Elliott, of Black Butts Lane, Walney, admitted attacking PC Daniel Knowles and James Cochrane on October 22 when he appeared before Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The defendant was also ordered to pay a total of £700 in compensation and court costs of £85.
