FIRE crews were called to a huge blaze in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters from the on-call Walney station, along with crews from Barrow and Ulverston, were called to the fire at Tummer Hill on Walney at around 2.50am today.

Firefighters spent a number of hours tackling the gorse blaze which stretched across an area of approximately 5,000 square metres.

Crews used hose reel jets, scotty bags and beaters to put out the fire.
