STUNNING images of Walney throughout the seasons feature in a new calendar which is once again set to be sent around the world.

Moonrise at West Shore and fishing boats in the calm of Walney Channel are just two of the photographs that form part of the The Walney Island Calendar 2018.

The calendar has been put together by Philip Hatfield, of Philip Hatfield Photography, and Marianne Livesey, of Mill Lane Post Office, Walney. Each year a donation from the sales goes to local charities.

This year’s calendar is larger with full A4 images. There are also scenes of crashing waves at the South End of Walney, ponies at South Walney and a street lamp-lit Biggar Bank Road.

Each year the Walney calendar reaches ex-pat Walneyites across the global to give them a reminder of home.

Mr Hatfield said: "The destinations we definitely know of that the calendar has been sent to are Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the south of France.

"I received a phone call from the ex-pat in France congratulating me on the quality of the photography, but he was wondering why I had sent him a free calendar. Turned out his sister had posted it to him from the UK but she had forgotten to enclose her letter to him."

The 2018 costs £8.99 and it is available to buy from Mill Lane Post Office and Salthouse Post Office, in Risedale Road, Barrow.
