A PICNIC walk to Piel Island takes place this weekend.
John Murphy will lead a stroll across the sands to Piel on Saturday lunchtime.
Walkers will meet at The King Alfred Hotel, on Walney from 12.45pm. A car convoy will travel to Snab Point on the island to make the crossing at 1pm.
It is a two-mile amble to the island to see the Piel Castle ruins, and there may be the opportunity to see seals on the way.
Walkers can enjoy a picnic and refreshments from the Ship Inn.
Dogs on leads are welcome. Walkers need suitable footwear and clothing.
