AN elderly woman who has lived on Walney all her life has called for residents to have some pride in their community.
The woman, in her 80s, got in touch with the Evening Mail after she received a letter from Barrow Borough Council reminding residents to bring their wheelie bins in after they have been emptied.
Although she says she religiously collects her bin straight after the binmen have been round, the woman, who asked not to be named, says the alley at the back of Liverpool Street and Dartmouth Street is regularly littered with rubbish.
The alley has a number of piles of dog dirt, as well as discarded household rubbish and an overflowing skip.
