FIREFIGHTERS were called to two jobs on Walney within the space of half an hour.
A crew from Barrow was tasked to a grass fire between the beach and Furness Golf Course at around 8.25pm last night.
While the firefighters were dealing with the fire, understood to be controlled burning, the Walney crew was called out to the Ferry pub after a smoke alarm was activated in the kitchen. The smoke alarm is believed to have been activated by steam from a kettle.
Both crews left the scenes within around 25 minutes and returned to their stations.
