A LIFEBOAT was launched in the early hours of today to assist people on a stranded fishing boat in Walney Channel.
Barrow RNLI Lifeboat crews helped two people whose fishing vessel suffered a loss of power towards the northern end of Walney
Channel.
The Volunteer crews launched the inshore lifeboat, Vision of Tamworth, just after midnight.
The lifeboat, with Dave Kell at the helm and assisted by Paul Wilcock, towed the vessel to Ferry pitching where it was moored safely at 1.15am.
With warmer weather and lighter evenings, Barrow RNLI says it is a timely reminder for everyone to 'Respect the Water', an RNLI campaign to keep people safe. More details are available at www.respecthewater.com
