THE wonders of Walney have been captured in a series of stunning photographs which make up the 2019 island calendar.

The breathtaking calendar, produced by Philip Hatfield Photography and Mill Lane Post Office, has just been launched this week and will once again be posted out to far flung destinations to ex Walneyites leaving in the likes of Australia, New Zealand, and America.

The 2019 offering includes a centre spread with a beautiful sunset at Sandy Gap and a tender embrace between a couple. The beautiful image was only taken by Mr Hatfield, of Island Studios, on August 20.

The Walney based photographer has said that if the couple get in touch with him he will give them a free print of the photograph.

When the snow settled on Walney in February it gave Mr Hatfield the chance to get some much wanted snowy scenes. The winter wonderland image that made the calendar is the scene of a dog walker near the Round House on Biggar Bank. Other images include an aerial view taking in Walney Channel, horses shading under tree, the sea spray and the mist on the promenade.

Mr Hatfield said: "I have lived on Walney for around 10 years and I love it. There is a great community and stunning scenery. We are so lucky to live where we live. I was so pleased when the snow settled this year on Walney and I could take some snow photos.

This year Mr Hatfield wrote a prose for the back cover; 'Who born within its sight and sound could long be parted from the sea. Look west at sundown where e're you be and remember Walney's Isle and me.'

The calendar is priced at £7.99 and is available to buy exclusively from Mill Lane Post Office and Salthouse Post Office.

Marianne Livesey, of Mill Lane Post Office said: " Our stunning Walney Calendar for 2019 has been made again in conjunction with Philip Hatfield and myself and believe me we've chosen some spectacular photos of Walney."
