Walker rescued from Lake District

A WALKER in his 70s was rescued after falling in the Lake District.

Seven members of Coniston Mountain Rescue Team went to the assistance of the walker who had fallen while walking near Crowberry Haws one the Eastern flank of the Old Man of Coniston this morning.

The man was treated for head injuries by team members and medics from the Great North Air Ambulance.

He was taken to the team’s base in Coniston before being transferred to a land ambulance from North West Ambulance Service.

He was taken to Furness General Hospital, in Barrow.
