Have your say
Barrow being downsized, crews going to Ulverston, Dalton being closed altogether which all means the. Furness Peninsula is going to be left with a very minimal cover. Barrow and Dalton cover a very large area Barrow is a growing town with the shipyard in its midst and Nuclear waste being shunted up and down to Sellafield to the docks in Barrow. If there is a disaster here heaven help us. It is very difficult to understand how on earth this is thought to be a feasible decision to close a fire station at Dalton which is covered by a part time crew so do not receive full time salaries. Downsize a perfectly good purpose built fire station in Barrow and then build a new Fire Station at Bootle which is to far away to provide cover for this area. I thought it was bad enough when Morrisons in Penrith was on fire and they' had to send for turntables from Carlisle and Barrow because that too had been downgraded from full time to part time and didn't have a turntable. The residents of this area are going to be put at risk by these ridiculous decisions. Or maybe I have missed something here, are they also closing Egremont, Whitehaven and Maryport? Time for a bridge over to Lancaster so at least we might be able to get help from there.
This information is incorrect it was the driver of the car that was arrested and it was a male of around 22 not a woman of 72.
