Work begins to improve Ulverston pavements

ALMOST £50,000 is being spent to improve lighting and pavements in Ulverston.

The Highways Agency project is due to begin today and will involve installing more reliable lighting and resurfacing footpaths.

Pedestrian diversions will be implemented as the work will require the closure of some sections of footpath.

Work will take place along the A590 from Tank Square roundabout to a point just beyond Swan Street.

Work is due to be completed by March 27 – in time for Easter.

All work will take place during off-peak periods – from 9.30am to 3.30pm – during the week and between 8am and 6pm on Sundays.

Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said: “This work will provide a safer, more comfortable pedestrian environment along the A590 for local people and visitors to Ulverston alike.”
