Volunteers urged to help transform Ulverston for spring
Last updated at 17:12, Thursday, 14 March 2013
A GIANT spring clean is being organised to take place later this month.
Ulverston in Bloom hopes to tidy up the town and is organising the event for anyone who wants to help.
The team is inviting volunteers to join them in Market Cross at 10.30am on March 21 to learn more about the work they do and help out.
Councillor Judith Pickthall, chairwoman of Ulverston in Bloom, said: “We would welcome volunteers to help out in any capacity either on the day or at other events throughout the year.
“Absolutely no gardening experience is necessary. We carry out many jobs, including planting the tubs and gardens and looking after them – plus pruning and other maintenance in the autumn.
“The In Bloom team also works with SLDC to help in keeping the town free of litter.”
The group is also encouraging entries for this year’s Cumbria in Bloom competition, which has a number of new categories this year including industry, commerce and churchyards.
To learn more contact the town council on townhall@ulverstoncouncil.org.uk or call 01229 585778.
