GENEROUS singers have been lending their voices to the Evening Mail’s campaign to buy new vehicles for a vital local hospice.

Group member Pamela Trelore said the singers had donated £500 to the Evening Mail’s Reaching Out campaign, which aims to raise £70,000 to buy new vehicles for St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston.

It is essential for the hospice to keep a well-maintained pool of vehicles so it can continue providing vital end-of-life care services to people across South Cumbria and South Copeland.

Some of the cars are used by hospice nurses to provide support to people with life-limiting conditions who wish to receive care in their own homes.

Mrs Trelore said the group of singers had also raised about £250 which they would give to the North West Air Ambulance.

“We don’t actually charge, but if anyone wants to make a donation I keep track of it all,” said Mrs Trelore, of Coniston Avenue, Dalton.

The money was raised over the year with up to seven singers performing at various locations, she added.

In the past the group was known as the Trelore Singers after Mrs Trelore’s late husband Tom, who founded the group more than 40 years ago.
