Ulverston graffiti vandal reward

A REWARD has been offered for information about the vandal behind a spate of graffiti attacks.

Auctioneer Howard Whitaker, from Ulverston, was among the victims and has offered £250 to the person whose information leads to the prosecution of the vandal who defaced his property.

The “Trix” tag was sprayed all over the town and police investigations have so far failed to identify the culprit.

Mr Whitaker, of Soutergate, said: “They have done this all over town.

“The police have had several leads they have followed without any success.

“I am going to offer a reward of £250 for information leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of Trix.”

He said police were made aware of people trespassing on his property but without evidence that they were responsible for the graffiti, no prosecutions could be brought forward.

Mr Whitaker continued: “It is all over the back of Ford Park and on waste bins.

“This person is not Banksy. It is not artistic and they need to be caught, prosecuted and made to pay for the removal.”

The tag appeared 10 times overnight between July 18 and 19, prompting an appeal for witnesses.

Police have previously approached schools as part of their enquiries and two weeks ago said they believed the incidents had stopped. So far, no charges have been brought in relation to the crimes.

Mr Whitaker said: “Somebody may know who it is.

“Trix will have friends who know who has done it and they will have told mates or have an accomplice.”

Meanwhile, investigations are still ongoing, according to Sergeant Rupert Johnston.

He said: “Any help from members of the public is much appreciated.

“Somebody must know who it is.”

Mr Whitaker is hoping the offer of a reward will encourage someone to come forward with the information needed to bring about an arrest.

Anyone with information should get in touch with the police by telephoning 101.

Have your say

Julius you talk the talk that graffiti is murder however i do agree that people who write graffiti like trix deserved to be heavily punished and fined. -graffiti can be caterogorised as many things but it seems you only think of it as vandalism ? what about legal graffiti and all the beinfits from that getting people off the streets instead of causing real trouble like selling drugs or taking them now that's a real problem.why be so single minded about the matter ?
