ULVERSTON based father and son duo J F Hornby & Co have been shortlisted for accountancy firm of the year in the British Accountancy Awards.
The awards, now in their third year recognise excellence in the profession over the previous 12 months.
Firms are judged on six main criteria which are:
- Social responsibility
John Hornby, who founded the practice in 1994 and which now employs 15 staff, is extremely proud of the achievement.
He said: "We focus on three core values which are unparalleled service to clients, knowledge and friendliness of our staff and our innovative solutions."
Paul Hornby who became a partner in 2003 said: "These core values are at the heart of everything we do as we are not just about producing a set of accounts. To receive national recognition from judges who work for global accountancy firms is extremely flattering and demonstrates to the local community what we can offer."
The pair also put their success down to the relationships they build with clients.
Paul said: "They appreciate the friendly approach and how advice is clearly explained. This again adds to the core values and is indicative of a family owned business."
The family link doesn’t end there, Paul's partner Beverley has worked for the business for nearly 15 years and manages the team of accounts assistants.
The firm now has to wait until November until the award winners are announced at an event at the Pavilion at the Tower in London.
