The Ulverston duo scooped numerous awards over the past few years for their inspirational fundraising and campaign work.

In September the sisters became among the youngest ever to receive the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, for services to charity.

Speaking to the Evening Mail after receiving the award, Milly said: “It’s amazing, I am really proud and I am really proud of my sister. It is such a privilege to be honoured by the Queen.”

The sisters were also both honoured in the Inspirational Awards for Women, back in October 2011, with Alice being crowned the UK’s most inspirational young woman and Milly received the Most Inspirational Fundraiser title.

And in 2012 the pair were celebrated in the Love Barrow Community Awards, and the Diana Awards – given in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Milly raised more than £31,000 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in the 2011 Race for Life with mum Vicky Pyne.

The youngster had initially aimed to raise £1,000 for Cancer Research through her Just Giving web page.

But donations from all over the globe saw her smash her target and raise more than £31,000.
