Manslaughter charge in case of Ulverston roof death

A MAN is due to appear in court charged with manslaughter by gross negligence in the case of a joiner who fell through a roof near Ulverston.

Jason Pennington, 42, was fixing a leak in the roof at the West Cumberland Farmers depot in Lindal when he plunged 50ft through a skylight in October 2011.

Peter Mawson, 43, of The Crest, Ulverston is due to appear at Furness Magistrates’ Court.

A company, Peter Mawson Limit, will also face a charge of corporate manslaughter.
