'Developers' charter' for thousands of South Lakeland homes approved

A CONTENTIOUS document that ring fences land across South Lakeland for thousands of homes has been approved.

District council bosses voted to adopt the local plan at a meeting last night.

It could pave the way for 5,277 properties to be built - as well as 20 potential sites for employment use - in towns and villages throughout the area.

The move has angered campaigners who claim 1,247 extra properties in Ulverston could ruin the town.
