Cumbrian food festival branching out to south Cumbira

A FOOD festival usually held in west Cumbria could be branching out and heading to Ulverston.

The Taste Cumbria festival is in the early stages of planning an appearance in Ulverston this April.

Organisers of the festival approached mayor Judith Pickthall and she said they were keen to have a festival in the area to match the successful Cockermouth event that brings in 30,000 people to the town.

Famous chefs including the Hairy Bikers and Masterchef’s John Torode have taken part.

Mrs Pickthall said around 80 to 100 producers had already expressed an interest in taking part in the Easter event. If the festival is to go ahead then it will take place over the weekend of April 19.
