Crime in Ulverston falls for second year in row

CRIME in Ulverston has fallen for the second year in a row.

Police in the town recorded 396 crimes during the period 2013 to 2014.

This is down from the previous year when 416 crimes were reported and significantly lower than the period 2011 to 2012 when 510 crimes were recorded.

The figures were revealed by Sergeant Rupert Johnston at the Ulverston Town Council meeting on Monday night.

Complaints of anti-social behaviour in the town saw a slight increase, with 482 incidents being recorded compared to 452 the year before.

Councillors also heard that there had been 25 crimes in Ulverston in the last month.

Included in these figures were eight incidents of shoplifting and seven “non-serious” assaults.
