Big Clean is a real opportunity

THREE pupils from Ulverston Victoria High School visited the Evening Mail offices yesterday, and gave us their views on why The Big Clean campaign is important, and why people should pick up litter.

SPEAKING OUT: From left, David Griffiths, Harry Billinghurst and Corey Price had their say on littering during a day at the Evening Mail

Harry Billinghurst, 12, said: ‘I think that we should pick up litter because there are many animals and lots of wildlife that live in the peninsula.

“Many people drop litter amongst trees and bushes while walking through parks unaware that litter such as bottle caps can hurt animals and destroy their habitats.”

David Griffiths, 12, said: “I think the Big Clean is a really good idea because it will clean up our area and make it a better place.

“Going ahead with the Big Clean is an opportunity too good to miss.’’

Corey Price, 12, said: “I think The Big Clean is a good idea because it is a good opportunity to get outside people involved.

“It also gives us a safer community to live in, plus it makes us a clean place which also makes us a better community.

“The good thing is that it helps the environment.’’
