THE memory of a much-loved husband was honoured at a special community coffee morning.

Dave Diggle's wife Nicky, 49, of Swarthmoor, recently held a coffee morning in memory of her husband, raising more than £1,000 for St Mary's Hospice in Ulverston.

Mr Diggle, 55, died in March after a long battle with cancer. Mrs Diggle put on the coffee morning as a way of raising money for the charity's incredible support.

She said: "The family support team were marvellous. You think you're strong enough to cope with it, but you crumble, they know what to do to help."

Mrs Diggle and her husband started using services at St Mary's shortly after his diagnosis in 2013.

She said: "We first started using the service not too far into his illness, although he was stable for some time, but after a few months the pain became quite severe."

Close to 100 people came to Mrs Diggle's coffee morning last Saturday, raising £1,389 in the process.

Next year she plans to once again raise money for St Mary's to support the vital role it plays in the community.
